The main focus of the Academy is to develop the musicality of our students. Within a supportive family-like environment, students are initiated into the demands of professional musical life under the guidance of acclaimed performers with distinguished international careers.
Chamber music is one of the most demanding challenges young musicians will face in their musical apprenticeship. With nowhere to hide, chamber musicians are responsible for making their part fit with those of their colleagues into a unified musical statement. Academy students rehearse fortnightly with their assigned chamber ensemble and receive coaching from resident and guest tutors alike.
One of the hurdles many young musicians face in their musical development is limited performance opportunity. Through a series of recitals and masterclasses, Academy students perform regularly at a frequency roughly matching their learning cycle.
While much can be learned through interpretation of composers' works, stepping for a moment into the role of composer allows students to further explore their musicality by developing their creative and analytical faculties.
