Summer Course August 1 - 5
This course is for advanced students with places for 8 violinists - 5 violists - 5 cellists - 2 pianists. Students will play in two different ensembles side-by-with tutors. Cost is £479 and includes catered lunch. Optional accommodation is available for students from outside the Cambridge area including international students.
Last year's summer course was immensely successful, with students rehearsing and performing works such as Dvorak's piano quintet op 81, Brahms' viola quintet op 111, Schumann's piano quartet op 47 and Beethoven's string quartet op 18. This year we will again offer a similar mix of challenging piano and string quintets, quartets and trios.
The chamber ensembles will be supplemented by chamber orchestra, - which in addition to an orchestral work will give pianists the opportunity to work on a piano concerto - musicianship and special classes. String players will receive two private lessons and pianists will participate in a daily piano class. The course will end with a concert.
